Joining iMusician and migrating my catalogue from DistroKid

Hello everyone,

I am new here, so I hope I have done this correctly. :worried:

My name is Bryan, and I release instrumental electronica and ambient music under the artist name Tonal Essences.

I’m currently considering moving my catalogue from DistroKid to iMusician and would really appreciate some advice and clear guidance before I begin. I’ve never migrated a catalogue between distributors before, so I’m naturally a little nervous about getting it right. I’m trying to put together all of the information needed to ensure my tracks are delivered to all of the streaming services where they currently exist under my artist name, Tonal Essences, so that, ideally, no one really notices the change of distributor.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been reading the iMusician documentation, Terms & Conditions and migration information, and I’ve prepared what I hope is a complete migration package. I’ve created a spreadsheet containing all of my release metadata, verified my ISRCs and UPCs from DistroKid, checked all of my original WAV files and artwork, and organised everything ready for upload. However, I’m still worried that I may have missed something.

My catalogue currently consists of 53 singles and one 3-track EP (56 original tracks in total). I release under the artist name Tonal Essences and I intend to continue releasing new music in the future. At my current release rate, the AMPLIFY subscription appears to be the right plan for me, and I’m hoping to build a long-term relationship with iMusician.

The reason I’m considering moving is that I’d like a distributor that offers good support, transparency and flexibility, and whose long-term approach to catalogue management appears to fit what I’m looking for.

I’ve collected a number of questions during my research. Rather than post a long list on the forum, would it be possible for a member of the iMusician team to contact me? I would really appreciate the opportunity to discuss my questions before I begin the migration. If possible, it would also be reassuring if I could have the same point of contact throughout the migration process.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’m looking forward to becoming part of the iMusician community, and I appreciate any guidance you can offer to help me make the migration as smooth and successful as possible.

Kind regards,

Bryan

Hello @BryanTE , thank you for your interest in iMusician!

The switch is an easy process, but to get faster and dedicated support, we recommend having a subscription. Our response time here takes a bit longer than our email support of 24/48 hours.

Please start creating the releases one by one into your account and make sure to keep ISRC codes of the tracks, so that the statistics will be kept. There isnot a in-bulk process sadly.

Once the releases will be alive with us, you can request takedown to the previous distributor after 5-10 business days. This will ensure the statistics to be transferred.

Best,
