i wrote to you so many times since my first release and you fixed my youtube and apple music profile, but spotify and instagram is still unfixed. My song i still under the wrong profile:
My song on spotify: Just Like a Sign - song and lyrics by RYA | Spotify
Wrong artist: RYA | Spotify
My artist profile: create a new profile named RYA bc i dont have one yet bc this is my first song.
We understand this is frustrating, but the correction request has already been processed on our end over a month ago.
The current delay/issue is due to the fact that your artist name is too generic for the shops automated systems to distinguish it from other profiles. When a name isn’t unique, it requires a manual intervention from the platform that we cannot bypass or speed up.
At this stage, the only way to permanently prevent these attribution errors is to use a more distinctive artist name. We know this isn’t ideal , but this is a technical reality of how streaming platforms manage metadata.
So, how come my song on youtube and apple music is fixed? If i change my artist name you have to change again youtube and apple music with spotify and instagram? (instagram my profile is already there, i can’t change my name)
if you tell me ok i can give you my traduction of RYA in korean as an artist name: 리아
for spotify now you can create a new artist profile with this name and associate my song, the links are on top in the other message. for instagram you just have to associate my song to my already profile, the links are all there. You can do it? Thank you.
On our end, the correction requests were submitted successfully to all affected platforms. Some were able to correct it whilst others weren’t, but that’s out of our control as a distributor.
i talked with spotify for artist for help. a moderator from spotify called Bonh G told me:
We can’t manually change this setting because we display music based on the metadata you submit to us. Your label or distributor can help you correct it by sending us a metadata update.
Once we receive the updated content from your distributor, the changes will be applied to the app.
Then please makes them know that they have to create a new profile artist with the name: RYA. if they can’t with the name: 리아 and then associate my first song: Just Like a Sign - song and lyrics by RYA | Spotify
to the new profile.
he told me also: I’ve been looking behind the scenes and we haven’t received the metadata update for this release from your distributor yet. Please confirm with your distributor that the metadata update hasn’t been sent to us yet.
Thank you!
We already did exactly that a month ago and yet no change was made on their end, as opposed to the other shops.
The issue is not at metadata level. Spotify incorrectly assigned your music to the wrong profile because your name is shared with other artists, but the metadata itself is correct. It just happens to match exactly with already existing artist names on their platform, which is what’s causing the issue.
I understand this is frustrating for you, but I will reiterate what was said in my previous post: On our end, the correction requests were submitted successfully to all affected platforms. Some were able to correct it whilst others weren’t, but that’s out of our control as a distributor.
I relayed your comments to Spotify for Artists, and their response was this: "Don’t worry, they should simply propose a metadata update to Spotify to create a new artist page and move the release there. Our data is powered by metadata provided by the label/distributor, and they manage your licensing on the platform. We only display music based on the metadata submitted to us. For this reason, we recommend our artists contact their distributor if they encounter any issues. Currently, there’s nothing in the guidelines to prevent multiple artists from using the same artist name. Unfortunately, we have limitations: only your distributor has access to your metadata. Therefore, only they can make changes to an artist’s metadata. We recommend contacting them and asking them to propose a metadata update to create an artist page for you.
Let us know if they encounter any errors while creating an artist page for you.”
so in summary I request a metadata update for the creation of a new page under the name RYA or another name if you say it is too generic (name I will give you) and I ask you to move the song: Just Like a Sign - song and lyrics by RYA | Spotify in the new artist profile you will create.
@RYA we already submitted the adequate request to Spotify a month ago and they haven’t made the change. We cannot take any further step as the correction can only be done on their side.
For the last time: the platform’s abilit to process the requests we send them is out of our control. I’m really sorry that Spotify wasn’t able to do what we asked them over a month ago (unlike the other shops), but unfortunately this is not something we have any control over.
The only advice I can give you is to consider using another name that’s less generic and not already in use, so this doesn’t happen again.
