At the moment it seems we can only pay and stay silent — but silence isn’t really my thing
That’s not entirely accurate. You could have refused to collect the penalty imposed by Spotify. The fact that the credit for several songs went into the negative and the difference was taken from the other tracks proves that you took Spotify’s fine from our royalties. This is therefore proof that you agreed to collaborate with their system. Have you even tried to protest ?
So basically we are screwed, at any time you can announce us that spotify decided our streams are fake, without any proof, and punish us and there’s no way to prevent that. Except withdrawing from Spotify and encourage our fans to cancel their Spotify subscription.
As I and many said multiple times we didn’t used any artificial streaming service, I have no idea how these streams are generated (by the way i don’t even know where, when, why because Spotify won’t say anything about it). So this has nothing to do with us faking streams. We are clearly victim of something else. The least you could do would be to protest against Spotify and demand clear answers on that outrageous situation. That would be a sign of respect to long time users.
I’m sorry but this situation is unacceptable.
If Spotify applies penalties without data and iMusician just passes them on without protest, and without data, then artists have no defense at all.
In the end, it looks less like fair distribution and more like a hidden tax .
Where can I send you my folder with substantial proof ?
I’ve sent you a DM ![]()
