A question about Content ID Whitelist

Hello,

I’m a Royalty Free Music artist. I want to enable the Content ID system for my songs, but will I be able to whitelist any Youtube channel I want at any time? Is this feature available in iMusician?

Hello @uniqueart

Yes, this is possible with iMusician.

I tag the iMusician support @Carlos and @Melani.

Well, I have one more question. I’d appreciate it if you could answer. I normally work with another distributor company, I’m very happy with them, but they don’t have the ability to add a Youtube channel to the Content ID Whitelist. Can you only get Content ID service from iMusician, not distribution service? Or do I need to distribute my songs through iMusician in order to use the Content ID system?

Hello @uniqueart

I suppose you must distribute by iMusician to obtain it but let the support answer

Thanks a lot!

By the way, is it possible to whitelist certain Youtube channels in the Content ID whitelist in the iMusician dashboard or do we need to get help from the support team every time?

Hello @uniqueart

The support team must be contacted I think for the moment.

Ok, thanks a lot for your help. So should I wait for the support team to reply to me here or is there a link where I can reach them?

Please wait here (if you are Amplify use your dashboard)

I haven’t started a membership yet. If I can add certain Youtube channels to the Content ID whitelist via Dashboard, I will switch to AMPLIFY+ membership. So I’m waiting for the response from the support team here.

Hey @uniqueart, thanks for contacting us!

You asked a lot of questions so I’m gonna list my answers for more clarity:

  1. Yes, we can add multiple channels to YouTube’s allowlist. This means that any content uploaded on these channels will no longer be monetised by us.
  2. YouTube distribution is mandatory to monetise your music with CID, so you can’t have the CID without the distribution to YouTube at least.
  3. To whitelist your channel, you must contact our support team (this is not something you can do from the dashboard).
  4. If you don’t have a paid subscription (AMPLIFY, AMPLIFY+ or AMPLIFY Pro) you cannot contact us via email and you need to use this forum for support

Hope this answers your questions :+1:

Hi @Carlos

Thanks for the answers. So if I become an AMPLIFY+ subscriber and I contact you via email to whitelist a YouTube channel;

1. How long does it take to get back to me?
2. How long does it take for the Copyright Claim on that YouTube channel to be deleted after I get back to you?

One last question:
I plan to add the channels of YouTube creators who are members of me on Patreon.com to the Content ID whitelist. This way, those creators will be able to make money from their own videos using my song. Therefore, there should be no limit to the number of YouTube channels that can be added to the Content ID whitelist. Is there a limit to the number of YouTube channels that can be added to the whitelist on iMusician?

Hey @uniqueart,

  1. We usually get back to you within 1-2 business days
  2. It usually takes about a week, depending on YouTube’s reactivity.
  3. No, there is no limit in principle

Hi @Carlos

You give very explanatory and clear answers. Thank you very much. Let me ask you one more question.

Let’s say I asked the iMusician support team to whitelist a YouTube channel. The copyright claims of videos containing my songs on this YouTube channel will be deleted after 1 week. After the copyright claims on the channel’s existing videos are deleted, what scenario will happen if that channel uploads other videos containing my songs?

  1. They will not get any copyright claims.
  2. They will get a copyright claim, but after a while, that copyright claim will be automatically deleted.

Hey @uniqueart, they will not get any copyright claims. As soon as the channel is added on the whitelist, all the content it contains is being demonetized on our end. This means that you will no longer receive copyright claims because we are no longer claiming ownership over the content to monetize it for you

Hi @Carlos

I see, I have a song that was released and Content ID registered through another distribution company. But unfortunately that distribution company does not have the ability to whitelist Youtube channels.

1. When I whitelist a Youtube channel in iMusician, can the song that I have distributed and Content ID registered through the other distribution company be used by that Youtube channel owner without Copyright Claim?

2. Or do I have to delete that song from the other distribution company’s panel and release it through iMusician?

3. My goal is that this song, which is currently used in TikTok, Reels videos, will never be deleted from those platforms. If I delete the song from the other distribution company, copy the ISRC number and enter this number in the relevant section when releasing it through iMusician, can this song continue its existence without ever being deleted from platforms such as TikTok and Instagram?

hi @uniqueart let’s ask @Carlos if he can take a look this :v:

Well, we can’t “whitelist” your channel on behalf of another distributor. If you want to be able to whitelist some content with iMusician, obviously we need to be the ones monetising for you in the first place :upside_down_face:

It might disappear from the shops for a few days while you’re switching distributors (that’ll depend on how you coordinate the switch) but in any case once your re-upload it it’ll be available again.
