Apple Digital Masters label for 24 bit streaming

Hi,

I had one of my albums distributed through iMusician, and I would like it to be available in 24-bit streaming on Apple Music. I contacted Apple about this, and according to them, the request must be made to the distributor in order for the album to be labeled on their platform as “Apple Digital Masters.”

I would also like to add that I am unable to log in to my iMusician account, as my password does not work and I am not receiving the activation code (yes, I am checking the correct inbox and I have checked my spam folder).

  2. Have you checked that the credentials you opened your account with were correct (e.g. thate there were no typos in your email address) ?

  1. I’ve read the article carefully. I actually master my own music — I make computer-based music and control the entire process from A to Z. For my project, traditional studio mastering doesn’t make sense. I can send you all the details via DM if you’d like. I’m also including Apple Music’s reply below:

“What we can confirm is that albums with all tracks having 24-bit audio can be badged Apple Digital Masters at the request of your content provider. For additional information on Apple Digital Masters (ADM), please reference the public-facing resource below:

Apple Digital Masters:

For assistance with addressing the type of audio being delivered and/or requesting to have your content badged for ADM, please contact your content provider, which may include your record label or aggregator.

Distributors facilitate the exchange of content and metadata to make sure your music imports successfully into our internal systems. We also require this process because many changes and investigations can’t be made without your distributor providing information directly to Apple.”

The Apple Digital Masters badge can only be attributed if the mastering studio is approved by Apple: Delivering Apple Digital Masters - Apple Music Provider Support.

It’s really a shame, but okay! What I don’t understand is, does this mean they stream in 24-bit lossless only if you have that badge?

Okay, I received confirmation from Apple: the Apple Digital Masters badge has no effect on the bitrate at which albums are streamed. In fact, the badge has no impact on sound quality at all!
