Claiming Tidal Artist Profile

Greetings Team iMusician,

Some months ago, I attempted to create a Tidal Artist profile (through their portal at https://artists.tidal.com/login), and waited, expecting their process to take some time. After months or waiting (and reattempting, thinking I may have done something wrong), I contacted their support email, and after a few exchanged emails, they insisted I need to take it up with you. Excerpt from email:

“Because this change requires specific data from your distributor, you’ll need to make your request directly from them, and they’ll work with us to make sure your profile gets updated.”

I am trying to claim profiles for “myster_ex” (at myster_ex on TIDAL) and “elkaroo” (at Elkaroo on TIDAL), since I have released albums from these artists through iMusician, expecting my user email to align with both services.

Request your assistance/advice on how to provide Tidal the details they need to validate my Artist account to claim those profiles.

Many thanks in advance,
Tony

Hey @FatTony,

I don’t understand why Tidal is referring to a “change” and us “updating” your profile. I think they misunderstood your request. As a distributor, we are not involved in this process

To claim access to your Tidal artist profile, you simply need to follow the steps on this page: https://artists.tidal.com/login

Hi again Carlos,

Yes, that link is the way I log in with my Tidal Artist account. Through that, I search for the artist and submit a claim, which they validate - and I wait… and wait… and nothing happens…

TBH, I don’t know what they meant by “change” either, as I was only asking for them to look into why I couldn’t claim the profiles of those two artists. I thought they were referring to information they need from distro in order to validate my claim of ownership - I have no idea what mechanism they use to do this, just assumed it was a normal process and iMusician would know what Tidal need to make that determination, and that many customers have claimed profiles on various platforms in the past. I will write back to query that point - if they haven’t closed it…

Are you able to tell if Tidal have requested this validation from iMusician, or if that even happens? I don’t expect you to know how Tidal conduct their admin, but only if they actually need info from you to validate my claim (account details, email, etc) - should I try again to see if it triggers a request?

Thanks again,
Tony.

Hey @FatTony, no Tidal doesn’t need any info from us.

Are you sure that it’s possible for you to claim access to 2 different artist profiles at the same time? It could be that they interpreted your request to access this second profile as you changing your artist name?

Hi Carlos,

I originally tried to claim them a month or so apart, but I suppose it is possible they are confused I am trying to change the artist profile from one to the other - although neither of the claims were successful… I’m happy to close this topic for now, as you have explained what is expected from the distro perspective - I will try again to contact the Tidal admins for advice and make it clear I’m trying to claim profiles for both artists, as I release music under multiple artist names…

Thanks again for your time and assistance.
FatTony.
