ISRC and UPCEAN codes for the mastering

I have a question regarding the purchase of ISRC and UPC/EAN codes for the release of my upcoming album.

I will soon be mastering my album, and the sound engineer has asked me to bring these two codes so that they can be included on the CDs and vinyl records I will print afterward. I would obviously like to publish the album on streaming platforms with you, as I did with my first EP, and so I am unsure how to proceed. Could I purchase them from you before completing the mastering? If not, where could I obtain them so that I already have them to go do the mastering?

Hello @Maud, please note that EAN and ISRC codes are valid for digital distribution. If you wish to make a physical copy of your release, you must get new codes for physical distribution. However, you can definitely distirbute it digitally through us, and such codes will be given after the purchase of your release. And, afterwards you can make the physical copy and/or replace the audio files with mastered ones.

Hope this helps and have a great day!

Hello @Melani , thank you so much!

so you mean I would have different EAN and ISRC codes, one for digital and one for physical distribution?

Or do you advise me to already digitally “post” the mastered version on imusician, before the release because I plan to release the music in February, so that I have the ISRC and EAN codes that you give me, and then change the files so that you have the masters. And of course all of that without anything being released on streaming platforms and before February.

Is that an option?

thank you so much

@Melani ?

Hello @Maud, if you do not distribute online, no EAN/ISCR codes will be assigned.

And, yes I confirm that those codes must be different when distributing physically because they are treated as new products.

Hope this helps and have a great day!
