It turns out that for several weeks I have wanted to change my artist name on streaming services. I wrote to IMusician about this issue and they told me that I had to re-upload my songs by paying an additional release. Once this was done, the music was uploaded to my original profile and to the profile of an unknown artist on Spotify. Imusician’s technical service is terrible, it takes days to respond and I already contacted Spotify and they told me that I had to solve this problem with the distributor. I don’t know what else to do and I feel incredibly frustrated by the fact that I have to keep paying and still having problems.
First of all, it’s not a good idea to change your artist name. We understand that this might be disappointing to you, but doing this can create a lot of issues on the platforms side, which seems to be your case here.
On our end, we want to prevent this from happening so we strongly advise against doing this. If however you really need to change your artist name, the only possible way to do it is by removing all your releases from the shops and then recreate them. However, do not re-use the same ISRC codes otherwise this will create discrepancies such as what you are experiencing.
