I have already released a single to some stores with another distributor, but I have not yet released it to Facebook/Instagram, which I want to do with iMusician. So will I have to put the original release date of when it went to other stores or not? It has not yet been released on Facebook/Instagram.
Hello @shahtriloka
If I understand you want to release a new song on iMusician and you want to specify the release date. It is easy during the release you determine the musical platforms you want to publish and a release date.
I tag the iMusician support @Carlos and @Melani to confirm you this because if it is already distributed on other platform with another distributor they are things to do before.
A2D an indie musicien
yes thank you.
it is already on streaming platforms with Distributor 1 but NOT on facebook/instagram reels. I want to use iMusician to release on facebook and instagram. So do I need to put in the original release date?
Hey @shahtriloka, yes you should indicate the original release date for consistency.
thanks! and I can choose to release it to a store which I haven’t released to yet with iMusician right? if i have already released it to other stores with another distributor.
@shahtriloka, No, that won’t be possible as you cannot distribute your release via 2 different distributors at the same time. Please take the time to read this article and our T&Cs before proceeding any further.
If you wish to distribute this release with us, you will have to request a takedown from the other distributor.
Hi Carlos, thanks for the reply.
I had read on another post that we can use different distributors for the same release as long as they deliver to different stores. I have NOT released it to Facebook/Instagram yet, which I want to do with iMusician, hence I have only selected that store in the release. Is this still not allowed? It is not on Facebook/Instagram yet with any distributor, hence why I am using iMusician for Facebook/Instagram.
Technically this is possible but we strongly advise against it. Doing so can cause issues as some distributors use an “auto-delivery” system where they upload your music automatically to shops and, sometimes, their own T&Cs might not authorize this (you’d have to check this with them).
I understand what you are trying to do here and if you can make sure that this won’t cause issues with your other distributor, then that’s potentially doable. However, I would like to stress that this is not something we recommend and if any issue were to arise, this could affect negatively your catalogue.
As a general rule, it’s better to stick to a single distributor for a same release.
Best,
Hi, I understand, thanks! I have checked with them and they allow it, and I have not opted to the store I am releasing to with iMusician so there should be no duplication on the same store, therefore it should not cause any issues with the other distributor.
Additionally, can I use the same UPC code in this case? Since it is the same release, but to different stores. There will be no clash of distributors in the same store.
Hi @Carlos please help me out with this
Hello @shahtriloka, thanks for your reply.
You can keep the same ISRC codes of the tracks but the UPC/EAN must be there. Please be careful to select only the shops where your content is not online, because we have detecting system able to inform us whether music is already existing and therefore we stop distributing it.
Hope this helps and have a great day!
All the best,
Thank you so much @Melani ! So that means I need to keep the same UPC for the release right?
Yes, keep the same UPC
