Question about timing when transferring songs

Hi!

I‘m really happy with the releases i did through iMusician so far and would like to transfer some old songs.
As I read (many times😅) it is crucial for you to have them taken down by the old aggregator for you to re-upload them.
My issue is that I don‘t want to have too big of a break, not even because of streams but mainly for our listeners.
So with my old distributer it takes 2-4 days for takedown (nonchangeable), and with iMusician theres no option to choose a „next possible releasedate“ (which you can for example with Distrokid). I dont mind a nonlinear re-upload with songs being available a different times in different stores/countries.

So do you have any practible solutions for this? I do see the possibility of paying for an express delivery, which I think is fair concerning a rushed release, but when transferring old songs with plannable und flexible dates it would be amazing to have a way to do this included with the subscription. In one topic I also read from someone of your team stating if iMusician recognizes a song still on the platforms it will hold the re-upload until the original upload is removed. Which would be a way to go but i guess not preferred on both sides.

thanks!

Hey @jjl,

I would suggest that you keep the release online for now and in parallel re-create the release on your iMusician dashboard + place your order. When doing so, keep everything 100% identical between the old and new release:

  • Audio file (same file, not a remaster)
  • Track duration
  • Track title
  • Version (e.g., don’t change from “Original Mix” to “Remastered”)
  • Artist name
  • ISRC

Our Quality Assurance team will then review your release and put it on hold when they notice that it’s already online through another distributor. You’ll receive a notification letting you know about this, please recontact us at this stage so we can coordinate further steps with our team

Alright, then I will do it exactly like that.
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated!

Hi @Carlos
I just did all that, as you said now the release got on hold, so far so good.
2 things:
-there are 2 singles as seperate releases, with one all happened as you said it would, the other (although also still online through another aggregator) passed first QC.
-In the update request dashboard it says “please send a confirmation of removal at least 5 working days after release date*”. So you will release the song and after I should remove it from the old distributor?

Please let me know if I should send specific links here or anything that would help.

in any case thanks for the support!

Hey @jjl,

Yes that’s correct. We need a confirmation from your former distributor that they will proceed to a takedown at least 5 days after we’ve released it. That way, DSPs will be able to link your previous data (streams, playlist placements, etc.).

Please coordinate with them to make sure they:

  1. Remove EAN 0196990221102 from all DSPs at least 5 days after 19.07.2025;
  2. Remove EAN 0197146112794 from all DSPs at least 5 days after 19.07.2025.

Somehow EAN 0196990221102 passed the quality check directly, but I’d still suggest you get a written confirmation from your previous distributor that both takedowns will be fulfilled timely. Share that with our QA team and they’ll accept EAN 0197146112794 :+1:
