I have a few questions regarding YouTube Content ID through iMusician and would appreciate any clarification from the iMusician team or other users who have experience with it.
1. Is it possible to use a Track policy instead of a Monetize policy?
My goal is to allow other creators to use my music without automatically claiming their ad revenue, while still being able to track where my music is being used.
Is it possible for releases distributed through iMusician to use a Track policy in YouTube Content ID instead of the default Monetize policy?
If this is supported, are there any requirements or limitations?
2. If a Track policy is available, does it need to be requested for every new release?
For example, if I release multiple songs over time:
Do I need to contact support for each new release?
Or can the policy be applied to all future releases on my account?
3. How can I request YouTube channel whitelisting?
I would like to whitelist certain channels (for example, my own channel, partner channels, or channels that have permission to use my music).
What is the process for requesting channel whitelisting?
What information is required?
How long does the process usually take?
Is there a limit to the number of channels that can be whitelisted?
4. Can these settings be managed directly from the iMusician dashboard?
Is there any way for users to:
Choose between Monetize and Track policies,
Add or remove whitelisted YouTube channels,
Manage Content ID settings,
directly from the iMusician dashboard?
Or do all of these requests need to be handled through customer support?
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to learning more about the available Content ID options and best practices for independent artists.
To provide some context, my goal is not to maximize Content ID revenue. Instead, I would like to make my music available for use by other creators under publicly stated usage guidelines while still maintaining proof of ownership and protection against fraudulent or unauthorized Content ID claims.
A tracking-only policy appears to be one possible solution, as it would allow me to monitor usage without automatically diverting advertising revenue from creators who are legitimately using my work.
If a tracking-only policy is not available, I would be interested to know whether iMusician offers any alternative workflow or best practice for artists who prioritize copyright protection and community-friendly usage over Content ID monetization.
iMusician currently only offers YouTube Content ID monetization. We do not offer a tracking-only (Track) policy. While YouTube supports different policy types, our Content ID service is designed specifically for monetization, and we are therefore unable to provide tracking-only monitoring of content usage.
Unfortunately, we only offer a monetization policy through our YouTube Content ID service.
If you would like to whitelist specific YouTube channels, please contact our Artist & Label Relations team through our contact form and provide the URLs of the channels you would like to whitelist.
At this time, Content ID settings cannot be managed directly through the iMusician dashboard. The dashboard allows you to view the revenue generated through Content ID, but Content ID-related requests such as channel whitelisting must be handled by our Artist & Label Relations team.
I have one additional question regarding channel whitelisting.
My goal is to make my music available for use by other creators under publicly stated usage guidelines.
If multiple creators request permission to use my music over time, would it be acceptable to submit whitelist requests on a regular basis?
Is there any practical limit on the number of YouTube channels that can be whitelisted for an artist’s catalog, or on the frequency of whitelist requests?
