Hi. Imusician website indicates “Make sure your name is spelled correctly so it doesn’t wind up on different profiles”. On Spotify there are dozens of musicians named Ryan. So how do you know which one of them is a correct profile? Why so many songs end up getting released on wrong Spotify profiles? Is there a way to stop this annoying and time-consuming flaw typical to all distributors? Thanks.
Hello @Ryan
My experience is that the more you made songs the lower you have this problem. May be that’s a good note

Hello @Ryan, that’s a very good question, thank you for raising it!
As you’ve said it, there are dozen of musicians named Ryan. If that’s the name you use to release your music, it’s nearly impossible for the streaming platforms to attribute it correctly without making a mistake and landing it on a homonymous profile.
On your dashboard, you have the option to link your artist name to your existing Spotify and Apple Music profiles, but that’s about it when it comes to preventing this from happening. You have to understand that distributors are not in charge of actively linking your music to artist profiles, that’s done by the shops when they upload the release on their platforms.
There’s actually a very simple way to stop this from happening; use an artist name that’s original! When you chose your name, take the time to do some research beforehand and make sure that it’s not already used by a dozen of other people. In other words, just pick something that’s not as generic as Ryan
