Sample and Imusician?

Hello,

I would like to distribute my new EP via iMusician, but I have a question before proceeding. One of my tracks contains short interview excerpts (2 to 3 seconds each), integrated in a transformative and artistic way. These excerpts are not musical samples, but spoken recordings used in a narrative and critical context.

In the past, I have already released a track via iMusician that contained copyrighted musical samples, and it was not an issue because those excerpts were short (2-3 seconds) and used purely for artistic purposes to enhance the track.

I am fully aware of the legal requirements regarding sample usage, the necessary licenses (Master License and Derivative Work License, as mentioned by TuneCore), and the restrictions imposed by streaming platforms. However, in this case, I am not using a musical sample or a protected work in the traditional sense, but rather short spoken excerpts used in a transformative way.

Before submitting my EP, I want to ensure that it will not be blocked or taken down after distribution, especially on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.

Does iMusician accept this type of content? Are there any specific restrictions I should be aware of?

Thank you in advance for your response.

Hey @Furyo, where are these interview samples taken from?

These are fake interviews we created with my band, but they looked so realistic that some distributors ended up blocking the EP.

Do you have any way to prove your ownership over these “fake interviews” ? If you own the content that’s fine, as long as you can prove it
