"suspicious streaming activity" flag

Hello. I would normally place a support ticket with you directly through the website, but since your redesign, I’m getting nothing but 404 not found pages when I attempt to go online. I was suggested to go to the community, which I am doing here. I’m not sure if I have the correct community, but here it is!

This is in regards to the following release:

Night City Redux
Giant Monsters on the Horizon
EBM/Industrial
ParaLuna Records
EAN 7610096073289

I have apparently been flagged for “artificial streaming”, and I am not sure why. My question is twofold:

  1. How can I resolve this to get my music back online with Spotify?
  2. What caused this flagging in the first place?

I can tell you as the creator of this music, myself or my bandmate have zero knowledge of this activity going on. Can you give us any clue so that we may shut down this activity? Please give us a chance to defend ourselves here. There is nothing in Spotify that can tell us what is going on. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Bonjour.

I agree. This album is some of my best work to date. I know for a fact that neither my co-songwriter, nor my singer, nor I did anything to cause this sudden increase. Do we have any IP addresses as proof, perhaps? Something we can track down? I don’t work with intermediaries, I do everything myself and I take care of the details! This burns me out with a number of distributors and such. This discussion forum is the closest thing I’ve found to customer service. Meanwhile, while trying to track this down, I can’t show Spotify listeners the latest music, and it’s burning me inside.

Hey @paralunarecords,

  1. Currently, the amount of penalties that were applied by Spotify is higher than the amount in your cash credit balance, which means that you still need to pay remaining amount in order to clear the situation. Once all your penalties have been paid, we will be able to send a request to Spotify so they can put the music back online.

  2. Spotify detected that some streams generated by this release were against their terms of use (i.e. non-organic/artifical streams). We don’t have any further information on this matter as Spotify only shared with us the affected release and the amount of penalties due.

PS: You must be subscribed to an AMPLIFY plan in order to reach out via email, which is not the case at the moment. This is not related to the redesign.

@belplace,

Hello! OK, so I have just signed up for the AMPLIFY plan. Maybe this can help me understand what Spotify has done? Maybe a way to explain what happened? I’m so lost! HELP!

I’m also contacting Spotify directly. To be honest, I don’t even care about the royalties, I just want the music up there!

Spotify has just stated the following:

Thank you. We’ve taken a look backstage and it seems that right now, your release is still live on Spotify. However, we have no knowledge of actions that may be taken by your distributor at this time. There can often be a delay between any notifications you may receive and action taken on your content. For further questions about how this may affect the status or availability of your releases, we’d recommend reaching out to your your label or distributor.

I truly am now more confused than ever.

Also:

If there is a metadata update indicating a takedown, but the release is still live in app - respond with; We’ve taken a look backstage and we can confirm we’ve received a content removal request from your distributor We’d recommend reaching out to your label or distributor if you have any questions about the status or delivery of your releases.

hi @paralunarecords , I’m tagging @Carlos here to take a look at this :v:

@paralunarecords, calm down please. Here’s a little context for you:

  1. Spotify detected that your music was stream-boosted and they have applied some penalties for the affected months.
  2. We have received from Spotify the barcodes of the affected releases and the amount of penalties they’ve applied.
  3. As we cannot keep conflicting content online, the affected releases have been immediately taken down from Spotify.
  4. The amount of penalties you owe them have been deducted automatically from your cash credit balance. If the amount of penalties is higher than your cash credit balance, then your balance is currently negative and you must pay the remaining penalties in order to clear the situation.

Once all your penalties have been paid, we will be able to send a request to Spotify so they can put the music back online.

OK, sounds good. Truth be told, I was only joking about being in panic mode. Sorry about that. So, where do I find the penalties to pay them?

or rather, how do I pay the penalties? I see them in the sales report, but I don’t know where on the website I can go to get the penalties paid.
