Take down my track from musician and Spotify

Hi, I had a song distributed 2 years ago which I want to remove from Spotify. iMusician created a Spotify channel for it. I want to remove this track from spotify so I asked online and the instructions they give are these:
Steps to request a takedown

  1. Open the release you want to take down in your release library
  2. Click Manage in the Music Distribution section
  3. Click Take down
  4. Copy and paste the title of the release
  5. Click Confirm
  6. Click the link in the email you receive from iMusician to confirm the takedown

However, after I clicked take down I couldn’t see where I had to copy paste the title of the release and I haven’t received an email to confirm the takedown. The song is still on the Spotify channel.

I also accidentally deleted the track from my iMusician profile and now I don’t know what to do.
@Carlos does this mean I will never be able to take the content off from Spotify and Instagram and all other places it went to?

hi @Sudovest please click on this link:

best, Andi :v:

Thanks Andi, I did that earlier today, I saw the exact same link, but I did not get the status of my release changed to “Takedown request processed” nor have I received an email.

I checked spotify and Instagram and the song is still there. I believe I made a mess because the track is gone from my iMusician profile but the music is still out there.

it doesn’t have immediate effect, it might take a couple of weeks or so for the takedown to be processed, just to be sure, I’m asking @Carlos from the Team if he can check on your case :v:

Hey @Sudovest, did you make sure to log into the right account? I see in our database that there are 2 accounts linked to your name.

Which are the 2 accounts? That’s odd. I have one under my personal name. I managed to delete the track, it’s no longer on my library but it is still on Spotify and Instagram and who knows where else.

I also have a new problem. Because I couldn’t use the previous the name (Sudovest), I released a new single under a new artist name and it seems there was already a band under that name. I had no idea and thought iMusician wouldn’t let me distribute under an artist name that already exists. I read I cannot change the artist name. So what can I do? Should I take down the track and distribute it again under a new name? If so a) Will I have to pay again for distributing and b) What happens to the content that is out there? Does it get removed or does it stay there adding more to the confusion and the legal issues it can bring?

hi @Sudovest , please take a look at these:

Thanks, I was able to takedown the song “Sveglia la Sera” from the artist name “Altrove” now I guess I just have to wait for iMusician to take it down from all shops like Spotify, Instagram, Youtube, etc.

However, there’s still that song I published with you guys from the artist “Sudovest” called “Inquieta” which was never taken down. It was deleted from my library, I may have done the process improperly but that thing is this song is still out there on Spotify, Youtube, Instagram and it’s no longer on my iMusician library. How is this possible? What can be done to get this song gone from shops? Thanks

hi @Carlos could you please take a look at this? :v:

@Sudovest,

The track by Sudovest has been distributed from your second account. Please go through your login credentials, log into that account and make the takedown request from there.

Also, I would like to remind you that, as per our terms of service:

  • You warrant that you are responsible for the safekeeping of your login details.
  • Fraudulent activity includes but is not limited to […] the creation of multiple iMusician accounts.

Can you please sort out your multiple account situation and take the necessary steps to close one of them? :slight_smile:

Ok now I realised I had accidentally created another account. I will try to follow the step to take down this single now.

Thank you I have finally managed to take down the song “Inquieta” by Sudovest.

I have a question now. It’s kind of complex. I’ve created to artist names Sudovest and Altrove. I won’t be using Altrove anymore as it seems to have been taken. So I published a song Sveglia la Sera under Altrove but I want to change it and maybe launch it under the name Sudovest. Because I seem to have created to different accounts by accident would that be an issue. Would the platform suddenly think I am plagiarising myself? Would it be just safer to launch the song Sveglia la Sera under a new artist name using the same account I tried launching it under the first time?

@Sudovest,

Would it be just safer to launch the song Sveglia la Sera under a new artist name using the same account I tried launching it under the first time?

→ Yes, that’s the best solution. Just make sure that this iMusician account is the only one you’ll use from now on (close the other one please). Also, remember that you won’t be able to re-use your original ISRCs so all the streams generated until now will be lost.
