I have about 50 cover songs scheduled for release in 2 weeks. I’m worried that I mistakenly entered the original songs’ ISRCs instead of leaving the field blank for new ones to be generated.
My issues:
I cannot find a summary view in the dashboard to see which ISRC is assigned to which track.
Some releases are already locked for editing.
Questions:
Is there a way to view all submitted metadata (specifically ISRCs) for upcoming releases at once?
If I did enter the wrong ISRCs, can the support team bulk-reset them to “generate new” before they go live?
I want to avoid “duplicate content” flags or copyright strikes from the original labels. Any advice on how to fix this quickly would be greatly appreciated!
Danke schonmal @Carlos
For several cover tracks I mistakenly entered the original recordings’ ISRCs instead of leaving the field empty for new ISRC generation.
I’ve opened an urgent support ticket with iMusician including all affected tracks and clear instructions to reset the ISRCs before release.
I was researching the original works for GEMA (composers/publishers) and accidentally copied the ISRCs of the original recordings into the ISRC field, instead of leaving it empty for new ones to be generated.
Since you’re part of the iMusician team, could you confirm:
Is it still possible at the “quality check” stage to reset/remove ISRCs so new ones can be generated before delivery?
Hey @Audiofin, after a thorough review with the help of our Quality Assurance and Legal team, unfortunately I must announce that we won’t be able to proceed with the distribution of these releases that actually aren’t cover but edits.
Since you made significant edits to the original works (e.g. removed the lyrics), they cannot be considered as simple cover versions. In order to distribute edits, you are required to obtain a license agreement from the original rights holders, which you haven’t provided.
Out of all the releaes you’ve submitted, is there any that’s 100% yours in terms of songwriting ?
All of these tracks are new recordings of existing compositions (cover versions) .
They are not edits, remixes, or modifications of the original master recordings.
Removing lyrics or creating instrumental/orchestral versions does not change the underlying composition and is standard practice for cover recordings.
The only issue is that I mistakenly entered the original recordings’ ISRCs, which likely caused the confusion and made them appear as edits of the original masters.
To clarify:
No original audio has been used
No samples or stems from the original recordings
All recordings are fully re-produced by me
In addition, I produce professional cover and breakdown videos on YouTube, where I transparently demonstrate and explain my production process. These works are clearly original re-recordings and an important part of my professional portfolio.
Given that, these should qualify as standard covers.
Could you please re-evaluate this based on that clarification?
Our Legal team confirmed that, in your case, the changes are too significant to qualify these tracks as covers.
Could you please answer my question and tell me if, amongst all the tracks you’ve submitted, any of them is 100% of your own creation regarding the composition ?
