Change pitching selection afterwards?

Hi guys,

unfortunately, I activated both pitching options (Spotify & editorial) and just saw afterwards that editorial pitching excludes the spotify pitch option!

  1. Why do they exclude each other?
  2. Why is there no popup advice when you activate the editorial button?
  3. Why is it not possible to change this afterwards?
    4. Can you please deactivate the editorial pitching so I can try to pitch it myself on spotify?
  4. If it is not possible that even you change it, should I then delete it completely and restart a new release?

Thank you in advance,

Hi Andi,

thank you for your help!
It looks like the feature is also irritating others…
I can’t understand why it isn’t a bit more obvious that these settings exclude each other during the moment when you use these buttons.
And I cant’ understand why we are not able to change them by ourselves afterwards…

In worst case, I will remove the track and input all details again in case me or Carlos cannot change it to Spotify pitching.

Currently the song setting looks like that:

…2 greyed out but acitvated(?) buttons…and the description is inconsistent to the button state itself…

Thank you guys,
Robin

Hey @Robbey, thanks for reaching out!

  1. They exclude each other because if they didn’t, it would be like allowing 2 pitch requests for the same track. This is not allowed by the shops.

  2. What do you mean by “pop-up advice”?

  3. Because once you’ve selected this option, our team needs to review your track and evaluate whether it can be pitched to editorial playlists. During this time, you shouldn’t try to pitch it yourself via Spotify for Artists (see point n°1).

  4. Yes I could ask our team to no review your track, but are you sure you want to miss the opportunity to get your music on major playlists?

  5. Yes that’s technically possible, but again I don’t understand why you would voluntarily avoid a chance to increase your music’s visibility :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Hello Carlos,

Thanks for your answer.
Since it is not really transparent, whether or not the iMusicians have the same Spotify playlist in mind as I have ( it’s not a mainstream genre ), I would prefer to do the pitching by myself to directly mention those relevant playlists…

And additional question:
I was “forced” to mention my real world name, but you can often see Single on Spotify which only show the artist name. How do I manage this?

Thank you and best wishes from Munich,
Rob

Hey @Robbey, thanks for your precisions. I’ve notified our team and they’ll ignore your pitching request. The release has been delivered to the shops, you’ll be able to pitch it via Spotify for Artists in the next couple of days :+1:

Regarding your name, that’s a requirement from most streaming platforms in order to pay composers and lyricists. You cannot add pseudonyms or artist names in a song’s credits!

Hey @Carlos,
thank you for your assistance.
For the spotify pitching I will need a release URI in advance of the release, right?
When will it be available and where can I find it?

Thanks,
Rob

Hey @Carlos,

You are the best, really want to thank you for your Help!!

Last questions:

  1. This URI is always just needed once in case, you claim a Spotify for artist channel for the very first time and you want to pitch your very first release, right?

  2. Future releases in the same artist account will then be visible for the artist - even in advance of the release - on his artists profile?

  3. So does every new artist need to ask you / the support team for this URI?

…. I’m asking this because until now I couldn’t find any clear step by step tutorial how to proceed in this matter…it’s like a puzzle with many parts…

Best wishes,
Rob

Anytime!

  1. That’s correct. Once you have access to your Spotify for Artists account, you don’t need the URI anymore.
  2. They will show up in the “Upcoming” section of your Spotify for Artists account, but this is not publicly shown on the artist page. The release will only be accessible to the listeners on the day it goes live.
  3. No usually you receive it via email, but in this case I just forwarded it to you directly to speed this up
